Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens (Dorset) - ref. VFB_0048
A very solid (and large) bench with a fantastic view all the way along Chesil Beach towards Portland.
How to get there:
Abbotsbury village is on the B3157 about 6 miles west of Weymouth. The sub-tropical gardens are about half a mile from the village westwards. They are well signposted from the main road out of the village. There is a large car park for visitors. The viewing point and bench is a short detour from the main garden walks but is well worth the effort to find.
Locate the bench on detailed map here.
Amenities:
There is a restaurant and shop at the visitors centre.
Access: The walks around the gardens have good access and are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The walk to the actual viewing point (where the bench is located) is quite steep and can be slippery in the wet.
Unusual features or other information: Abbotsbury also has the historic 'swannery' and also has great walks. The sub-tropical gardens have a wide variety of plants to view.
