Butleigh Woods, Somerset ref. VFB_0053
A basic picnic bench with great views over the Somerset Levels towards High Ham and Bridgwater. There is also an amazingly well carved seat looking like a throne - carved from a large single tree stump.
How to get there:
Butleigh Woods is on the Polden Hills, a ridge of high ground across the Somerset Levels towards Bridgwater, about 4 miles south of Glastonbury. From the M5 (jn 23) take the A39 towards Street. From Street take the B3151 south towards Somerton and at the crossroads at the top of a hill turn left towards Charlton Mackerell. Carry on this road for about 1 mile, the entrance to the car park is on the right. Locate bench on detailed map

Access: Good access to the car park and the walk through the woods to the viewing point is reasonable and suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
Unusual features or other information: Carved seat is made from a single large tree trunk. Well worth a visit.
