How to get there: Guernsey is about 30 miles west of the Normandy coast of France and 75 miles south of Weymouth, Dorset. The Bailiwick of Guernsey includes Alderney, Sark, Herm plus other smaller islands, the main town is St. Peter Port. You can get there by air from a number of regional airports or by ferry from UK and St. Malo (France).
Amenities: Good tea shops and restaurants located around the islands.
Access: Generally good but some of the coastal path routes are quite rough and steep and not suitable for disabled people or children in pushchairs.
Unusual features or other information: The Bailiwick of Guernsey is not actually part of the UK but a separate posession of the Crown. The islands were occupied by German troops during WWII and there are many remains of fortifications around the islands. During the war, many Guernsey children were evacuated to live with family or strangers in England.
