Bench at St. Enodoc Church near Rock, Cornwall - ref. VFB_0066
Bench in the grounds of St. Enodoc's Church, near Rock in Cornwall.
How to get there:
St Enodoc's Church is located close to the village of Rock, just across the estuary from the well known Cornish fishing village of Padstow. Access to the church is only by foot, the easiest way being from Rock along the beach from the ferry point and then across the golf course (10th fairway) which surrounds it, a distance of about one mile. Amenities: None - but very peaceful.
Access: Quite a walk from Rock, but OK for reasonably active.
Unusual features or other information: St. Enodoc's Church is made famous because the poet laureate Sir John Betjeman is buried there in the churchyard. The church was built in 1430 but fell into disrepair in the 18th century and was at one time apparently almost covered by the sand dunes that surround it and the only way in was through the roof!! Notice the very crooked spire.
