Swanage, Dorset - ref. VFB_0075
How to get there:
Swanage is a lovely seaside town on the Dorset coast, about 8 miles from Wareham and about 6 miles south of Poole as the crow flies. From Poole, take the A35 westwards and then take the A351 towards Wareham. Follow the A351 to Swanage. There are a number of car parks in Swanage and it is quite a small town. Head towards Peveril Point and you will find the benches situated in the park area overlooking the pier. Locate the benches at Peveril Point on the detailed map
here
Amenities: Lots of the usual tea/coffee shops in Swanage.
Access: Pretty good access, although quite a steep climb up from the seafront.
Unusual features or other information: Swanage Railway is an independent railway company that runs excursions from Norden Station (just north of Corfe Castle) into Swanage. Often they run steam trains and put on special events. For more information visit their web-site here. Corfe Castle is also a very interesting and historic place to visit.
