Ham Hill, near Stoke-sub-Hamdon, Somerset - ref. VFB_0093
How to get there: Ham Hill is a well known country park, close to the village of Stoke-sub-Hambdon in Somerset about 6 miles north west of Yeovil, near the A303. From the A303 there is a junction signposted to Stoke-sub-Hamdon. When you get into the centre of the village, take Ham Hill road up to the country park.
The hamstone bench looks really cold and hard to sit on, but is amazingly comfortable and catches the afternoon sun overlooking Stoke-Sub-Hamdon and, in the distance, the Blackdown Hills. It can be found part way up Ham Hill road where there is a footpath marked on the right hand side of the road. Follow this footpath in the same direction as going up the hill and the bench can be found about 300 yards along. Locate the hamstone bench on detailed map
here.
The log 'bench' can be found close to the 'T' junction where Ham Hill Road, Hollow Lane from Montacute and Park Lane from Odcombe meet. Opposite Hollow Lane is a gravel track and the bench is 200 yards along, just before the gravel track becomes a grass path. Locate the log bench on detailed map
here.
Amenities: Very nice pub, the Prince of Wales, at Ham Hill Country Park.
